Tennis Instruction for Coral Gables Players

By Jason Dixon  ·  May 22, 2026

Coral Gables players have plenty of tennis options on paper — Salvadore Park courts, the Biltmore, Granada Golf Course, a half-dozen private clubs. But “options” and “real instruction” aren’t the same thing.

If you want courts, the Gables has courts. If you want serious coaching — the kind that actually improves your game over a season instead of just giving you a fun morning — your real options narrow fast.

TennisFIT is one of them. About 10 to 15 minutes from most Coral Gables addresses, at Henderson Park (950 NW 3rd St). No club membership, no monthly minimums, no initiation fee. Just real coaching with a USPTA Elite Professional.

The Commute from Coral Gables

From most Coral Gables addresses, you’re looking at:

Free parking on-site at Henderson Park.

Why Gables Players Drive North Instead of Joining a Club

The math people walk through:

A serious private club membership in the Gables: $5,000 to $20,000+ initiation, plus monthly dues, plus court fees, plus lesson fees. You’re committed for years before you’ve taken your first serious lesson.

TennisFIT: No membership. Pay per lesson, per program, or per package. Quit any time. If you want to take 8 weeks of intensive work to fix your backhand and then take a 6-month break, do it. We’re not optimized to keep you locked in.

The instruction itself: Most club pros are good at running clinics. Fewer are good at custom-tailored adult instruction that actually changes your game. Jason Dixon has 12 years coaching across Miami — including programs that competed with the high-end clubs. He knows the difference between teaching tennis and running drills.

What Coral Gables Players Actually Get Out of TennisFIT

We see two common Gables players:

The competitive 3.5–4.5 player who’s stuck. You’ve been at the same level for years. Your lessons feel like ball-feeding. You can rally for an hour but in match play you lose to people you shouldn’t lose to. You’re not getting better — you’re getting older. We diagnose where your game is actually leaking — usually footwork, decision-making under pressure, or one specific stroke pattern — and we fix it. Six to eight sessions, real change.

The lapsed player getting back into it. You played in college or seriously in your 20s. You’ve taken five or ten years off. Your strokes still work in muscle memory but your conditioning, court coverage, and confidence aren’t there. We can rebuild that — TennisFIT’s combined tennis-and-fitness approach is built exactly for this case.

What Sessions Look Like

For adults, we offer:

Private Lessons (1:1). Custom-built around what your game needs. Pre-session diagnosis, in-session work, post-session homework. 60 or 90 minutes.

Small Group (2–4 players). Same level, similar goals. Cheaper per hour than private, more competitive than clinic. Many Gables players use this with their regular hitting partners.

TennisFIT Group (4–8 players). Our signature program — drill-heavy, conditioning-integrated, real workout. Burns 600+ calories per session while you’re also working on your game. Better than going to the gym separately.

The “Fitness AND Tennis” Approach

One thing Coral Gables players often appreciate: we don’t separate tennis instruction from fitness. The classic problem with country club tennis is you get great instruction but you’re still out of shape — so by the third set, your technique falls apart anyway.

Our sessions are designed so you’re improving your tennis and your conditioning simultaneously. By the end of a 12-week program, you’re not just hitting better — you’re hitting better in the third set, which is when matches actually get decided.

How to Start

  1. Initial conversation. Tell us where your game is and where you want it to be. We’ll tell you whether we can help and what it would look like.
  2. Trial session. Single 60-minute lesson, see if the coaching style works for you.
  3. Build a program from there.
